COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITES

1. Change Places If You've Got...

Students sit or stand in a circle. You call:

Change places if you've got a brother!

Everyone who has a brother changes places.

Then:

Change places if you've got a pet!
…if you've got a bike!
…if you've got a blue pen!
…if you've got two sisters!
…if you've got a hoodie!

After a few rounds, students become the caller.

2. Memory Detective

Tell students:

Look at your partner for 20 seconds.

Then they turn around or close their eyes.

Ask:

Has Marta got glasses?
Has she got earrings?
Has she got a black T-shirt?
Has she got white trainers?

They answer from memory:

Yes, she has.
No, she hasn't.

You can make it Team A vs Team B.

3. Have You Got...? Elimination

Everyone stands up.

You ask:

Have you got a brother?

Students who answer No, I haven't sit down.

Continue:

Have you got a pet?
Have you got a bike?
Have you got a blue pen?
Have you got more than one cousin?

Continue until one student remains standing.

Then let a student be the teacher and ask the questions.

4. Find Someone Who — No Worksheet

Give them three things to remember, for example:

Find someone who has got a cat.
Find someone who has got two brothers or sisters.
Find someone who has got a bike.

They stand up and ask:

Have you got a cat?

They must remember the names.

After 3–4 minutes, everyone sits down and you ask:

Who has got a cat?

Student:

Lucía has got a cat.

So you naturally move from Have you got...? → Yes, I have → She has got...

5. Two Truths and a Lie

Each student says three sentences:

I've got a brother.
I've got a dog.
I've got a skateboard.

One is false.

The others can ask questions:

Have you really got a dog?
Have you got a big dog?

Then they guess the lie.

This one is more genuinely communicative, because they're learning things about each other.

6.  The Have-Got King/Queen

Put two students at the front.

You give them a category:

Things at home

They alternate:

A: I've got a TV.
B: I've got a computer.
A: I've got a sofa.
B: I've got a microwave.

No repetition and no long pauses. The first person who can't think of something loses; another student comes up to challenge the winner.

Change categories: school bag, bedroom, family, clothes, technology, pets.

6.  Build a Monster

You start:

My monster has got three eyes.

Student 1 repeats and adds something:

The monster has got three eyes and four arms.

Student 2:

The monster has got three eyes, four arms and two mouths.

Keep going until someone forgets something.

It's basically a memory chain, but they're practising has got repeatedly.
